Carolina Newswire reports:
"Wake Technical Community College is proud to be the recipient of a 2009 “Green Building of America” Award from Construction Communications. Building D, on Wake Tech’s Northern Wake Campus, was chosen for the award from more than 2,500 entries.
At just under 75,000 square feet, the building features daylight harvesting - a system that detects the amount of light coming in from outside and automatically dims the inside lights accordingly to save energy. Occupancy sensors in rooms automatically turn lights off when no one is present. Building D also has a white roof to reflect the sun, sun-blocking louvers and roof overhang on the south side of the building, and high-efficiency condensing boilers, fan and pump motors."
